Ma′unga Terevaka is the highest point on the island at about 1600 ft above sea level. This is the youngest of the three main volcanoes and its lava flow produced the bulk of the island. I was under the impression that the crater Rano Aroi was one of three lakes, but it was dry with a solo tree when we went. The four hour roundtrip hike is well worth the stunning 360 degree view at the windy top.
